What Can I do To Help? - The 3 P's
One of the most critical steps in moving to a new home is to start early and create a detailed plan. Begin by setting a moving date and working backward to establish a timeline for packing and other tasks.
Create a checklist of everything that needs to be done, including notifying utility companies, changing your address, and scheduling movers.
Prioritize rooms and items, starting with non-essential areas and seasonal items.
This methodical approach ensures that you stay organized and reduces the stress associated with last-minute packing.
Before you start packing, take the time to declutter your home. Go through each room and decide what to keep, donate, sell, or discard. This not only reduces the number of items you need to pack but also gives you a fresh start in your new home. Use the opportunity to organize your belongings, grouping similar items together.
For instance, keep kitchen utensils with cookware, and books with office supplies. This will make the unpacking process more manageable and efficient.
Investing in quality packing materials is essential to protect your belongings during the move. Use sturdy boxes in various sizes, bubble wrap, packing paper, and strong tape. Label each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. For fragile items, consider using specialized boxes with dividers. Wrap delicate items individually and fill any empty spaces in boxes with packing peanuts or crumpled paper to prevent shifting.
Proper packing materials and techniques can prevent damage and make the moving process smoother.
Packing room by room is an efficient way to organize your move. Start with rooms you use the least, such as the attic, basement, or guest bedroom. Pack similar items together and label boxes clearly. Use color-coded labels or markers to differentiate between rooms at a glance. For example, use blue for the kitchen and green for the living room.
This approach helps keep your packing organized and makes unpacking easier since boxes will be placed in their corresponding rooms in the new home.
As you approach moving day, pack an essentials box containing items you’ll need immediately upon arrival at your new home. This box should include toiletries, a change of clothes, important documents, basic kitchen supplies, medications, and any other necessities. Label it clearly and keep it accessible during the move.
Having an essentials box ensures that you have everything you need for the first few days without having to unpack all your boxes immediately.
If your budget allows, consider hiring professional movers to handle the heavy lifting. Research moving companies and read reviews to find a reliable service. Professional movers have the experience and equipment to transport your belongings safely and efficiently.
They can also provide additional services such as packing, unpacking, and assembling furniture. Hiring professionals can save you time, reduce physical strain, and give you peace of mind knowing that your belongings are in capable hands.
Be sure to get quotes from multiple companies and confirm their insurance coverage before making a decision.

Everything we do is based on hourly work. Cost for out of town moves are calculated based on time and mileage. Only extra fees would be the cost for shrink wrap to wrap your furniture and cost for mattress bags. We recommend that if you are doing your own packing for your move, you can leave the most valuable items to be boxed up by our packing professionals.
But if you would like to do it your self then- more fragile the item, more bubble wrap needs to be used. Box should be heavy duty cardboard and be filled to the lid. Tape the box, extra tape on the bottom.
