*Start a folder for all records related to the move.
* Plan the actual move. Are you hiring a mover, renting a truck?
* Make reservation for movers about three weeks ahead.
* Get several estimates, so you know you get a competitive rate.
* When interviewing a moving company, make sure to ask if they are insured and ask for proof of it.
* Do you need to hire packers, or will you do packing yourself?
* Do not use printed newsprint to wrap your fine china.
* Use packing tape, not duct tape.
* Always tape boxes. Do not interlock the bottoms or tops.
* For books use only small boxes.
* Remember- the heavier the item, smaller the box.
* If taking apart furniture, keep all the hardware taped to it.
* Label boxes for each room on top and side.
